MASTER DEGREE IN HABITAT SCIENCES CARLOS EDUARDO HERNÁNDEZ LÓPEZ CHAK
I am a Mexican illustrator based in Colima, the smallest state in the country. Since childhood, I have been connected to drawing; my sketchbook has always been an extension of myself. Even in school, both in elementary and high school, it was common for teachers to scold me for "drawing during class."
At the age of 15, I began my formal artistic training at the Institute of Fine Arts, where I started exploring different illustration techniques that would later define my style.
I hold a degree in Graphic Design and a Master's degree in Mexican Art History. Currently, I work as a freelance illustrator, collaborating with brands, publishers, and creative projects from various parts of the world.
My approach combines Mexican cultural roots with a contemporary aesthetic, making it ideal for projects that seek an authentic and distinctive visual identity.

In 2015, I earned my Master's degree in Mexican Art History in San Luis Potosí, thanks to financial support from CONACYT. During this postgraduate program, I focused on cultural research with my thesis titled "The Discourse on Pre-Hispanic Heritage in Texts Promoting the Cultural Identity of Young People in Colima." This work solidified my commitment to art as a means to strengthen identity and collective memory.
Between 2012 and 2023, I was part of the Directorate of Cultural Heritage and the Pinacoteca at the University of Colima. There, I developed over 30 exhibitions, ranging from museographic design to creating the visual identity for each display. This experience in cultural spaces allowed me to merge my profile as a freelance illustrator with cultural design projects, educational art, and visual identity for institutions.
I have conducted workshops and conferences on illustration, creativity, design, and cultural management, collaborating with various communities, universities, and cultural centers in Mexico.
As a freelance illustrator in Mexico, I combine artistic sensitivity with visual strategy, offering professional illustration services for editorial, cultural, and visual communication projects that aim to convey messages with depth, authenticity, and style.
Throughout my career as a freelance illustrator in Mexico, I have created a wide range of design products with a unique graphic identity: metal and plastic pins, digital prints, engravings, ceramic designs, and embroidered patches, all available in my online store. These products reflect my passion for transforming illustration into tangible pieces that connect with the audience and offer unique value.
In addition, I discovered a deep passion for teaching, which led me to create a YouTube channel where I share tips, creative processes, and tutorials on illustration, art, and design. My goal is to provide value to other creators, artists, and students by giving them the tools to enhance their creativity.
In 2018, I acquired my first iPad Pro, a key tool that allowed me to explore new digital possibilities and connect more directly with my community on social media, expanding my reach and visibility as an illustrator.
Between 2020 and 2023, I served as Director of Museums at the University of Colima, where I integrated cultural management with visual design, consolidating my experience in the artistic and educational sectors. Currently, I am a faculty member at the Faculty of Architecture and Design at the same university, where I teach courses on design, creativity, and applied illustration, sharing my knowledge with the next generation of designers.

My passion for art has led me to participate in various exhibitions, both locally and internationally. I have had the honor of presenting my work at events such as the Semana de las Artes at the Institute of Fine Arts (IUBA) and in solo exhibitions like "Behind the Mask." Internationally, my work was selected to be part of Imagen Palabra, a prominent illustration showcase held in Lima, Peru.
This exhibition journey has strengthened my perspective as a professional illustrator, allowing me to connect with different audiences and cultures through visual art.
Additionally, I have experience in various artistic techniques, including hand drawing, acrylic painting, traditional engraving, and digital printing. This versatility enables me to adapt to a wide range of illustration projects, whether for physical products, editorial publications, or digital content.
Carlos Eduardo Hernández López, as an artist and designer with extensive experience, has dedicated his career to creating unique character designs for clients around the world. His experience spans both graphic design and Fine Arts, which has allowed him to hone my skills in various media such as digital illustration, painting and printmaking.
His passion for art manifested itself from an early age, he has always carried a sketchbook with me, even going to the extent of being suspended from class for drawing, once in high school, and another during his master's degree.
After completing my Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design at the Faculty of Architecture and Design at the University of Colima, I had the opportunity to expand my horizons by studying abroad for six months in Málaga, Spain. Since then, I have worked as a freelance illustrator and participated in numerous art exhibitions, both locally in Mexico and internationally in Peru.
My work stands out for its unique fusion of Mexican heritage and modern design. Throughout my career, I have created a wide range of products, including metal and plastic pins, digital prints, engravings, and patches, all of which are available in my online store.
In addition to my artistic work, I have shared my passion and knowledge through conferences and workshops on art, culture, design, creativity, and illustration. I also started my own YouTube channel, where I share tips and tutorials about my creative process.
My role as General Director of the Museums of the University of Colima has allowed me to continue spreading the love of art within the community.
